Copperwired adding branches

CPN chief operating officer Pakorn Partanapat, left, and Mr Paramate at the grand opening of the .Life store at CentralWorld yesterday.

Copperwired Co, a gadget distributor under the .Life (dotlife) brand, will invest about 165 million baht to add 30 new branches by 2020.

Part of the budget is also set to finance a new flagship store at CentralWorld, which it claims is the largest gadget lifestyle shop featuring Internet of Things (IoT) technology in Thailand.

The store opened in September.

Narong Intanate, executive chairman of Copperwired Co, which also operates iStudio, a major reseller of Apple, said the company plans to go public by listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand sometime in 2019.

Funds mobilised from the listing will be used to expand gadget lifestyle stores in prime locations nationwide to cash in on the growth of the lifestyle gadget segment.

Paramate Rienjaroensuk, chief executive at Copperwired, said for the past 10 years smartphones have changed not only the nature of telephone communication but also people's lifestyles.

The .Life branches offer a variety of technological products to supply customers' lifestyles and needs.

"With the adoption of 5G, the number of connected devices will increase, and IoT in the form of connected toys, smart homes and smart transport and new demand for product categories will rise accordingly," said Mr Paramate.

He said the company plans to increase its .Life branches from 19 to 30 branches in 2020.

To capitalise on market growth, the company decided to spend 20 million baht to open the .Life flagship store in CentralWorld that will have four storeys, covering 310 square metres.

The .Life store not only offers trendy products but also gives precedence to product features that help improve customers' quality of life from product selection.

Products are mostly at standard market prices, while some imported products are priced the same as in the countries of origin, he said.

Apart from the CentralWorld store, a .Lift in Iconsiam will open 2019 and at least 5-7 existing shops will be renovated, including the outposts in Siam Paragon and in Phuket.

The company expects revenue will grow over 20% this year to over 800 million baht, beating out the IT industry's single-digit growth rate.
