Coppa Club to open ritzy 200-cover Bristol restaurant

A fast-growing hospitality group is opening a new restaurant in place of a former Pizza Express site in Bristol.

Coppa Club opened its first venue five years ago in Berkshire village Sonning-on-Thames, where it set out to create a "local hang-out and community space".

It now has seven locations across the UK with its other venues including Henley-On-Thames, Brighton and Tower Bridge in London.

The restaurant chain's Bristol site, which is set to open on July 14, will have 200 covers spread across two storeys, with the ground floor home to the main restaurant, bar and lounge and the upper floor housing a dining area and workspace.

Replacing the old Pizza Express on Regent Street in Clifton Village, it will serve an all-day menu from breakfast through to dinner focused on European small plates, alongside sourdough pizzas, salads and more.

A Coppa Club spokesperson said: "Following its previous successful openings, the venue will continue the brand’s central premise to create a community hub and a space for locals to make their own."

Some of Coppa Club's UK sites are known for having the option of outdoor seating in transparent igloos, but the Bristol branch will not boast this feature.

Yishay Malkov, CEO, Coppa Club, said: "We’re very excited to bring Coppa Club to Bristol, we’ve always wanted to open in South West England and couldn’t think of a better location than this vibrant city.

"We’re thrilled to be opening our venue in Clifton and can’t wait to become part of the local community.

"Our venues are designed to give people a home-from-home experience, a place where they can work, eat, drink, meet or relax - anytime of the day, until late.

"Coppa Clifton is a 200 cover venue with a dedicated work space, full service restaurant and bar, lounge areas and alfresco seating.

"Clifton Village is a beautiful area steeped in the history of Georgian townhouses, one of which we’re lucky to be occupying that was a former linen works.

"We’ll be taking inspiration from its original features as we transform the building and bring Coppa Club to life across two floors."

Coppa Club is due to open at 2-10 Regent St, Clifton, Bristol BS8 4HG on July 14. It is opening in place of Pizza Express, which closed in August 2020.
