Copenhagen hammer Celtic Park police as stars make 'tackle' claim

Copenhagen stars have hit out at the police for "tackling" their players after they scored at Parkhead in their Europa League triumph.

The Danes pulled off a shock 3-1 win in Glasgow to eliminate Celtic from the competiton.

But they admitted Scottish cops left a sour taste with them after an incident when Spanish midfielder Pep Biel netted their crucial second goal and went to his own supporters to celebrate.

Several Copenhagen players became embroiled in arguments with the police in that section and a Danish steward - security organised by Copenhagen themselves - was also led away, although he was later released and allowed to go home.

And that infuriated their captain, Greek midfielder Zeca.

He said: "The police should not tackle a player.

"People have to understand that it's football - it's an emotional game.

"Of course you shouldn't jump into the stands, but we wanted to be close to our own supporters and celebrate with them."

And his disappointment at their treatment at the hands of Glasgow's police was echoed by team mate Rasmus Falk.

He said: "I think there needs to be a greater understanding.

"We just wanted to rejoice with those who were with us. We were in the process of creating a huge result, so you have to have a sense of the situation for those emotions to be displayed.

"Our fans were extremely happy, we were extremely happy. Let's celebrate it. It was a good situation. We were displaying joy and we didn't stay in that area for long.

"You must be allowed to celebrate."
