Copa America suspended to give Everton double Premier League boost

The decision to suspend the Copa America means two key Everton players will be available should the Premier League season extend into the summer.

Today's ruling by UEFA to postpone the European Championships by 12 months has now been followed up by CONMEBOL doing the same to the South American tournament.

It was due to take place in Argentina and Colombia between June 12-July 12 but has been put on hold for a year because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Richarlison was due to play for the holders, Brazil, while Yerry Mina was expected to have been named in the Colombian squad but the Copa America has been postponed.

Richarlison has also expressed his desire to represent Brazil in the Tokyo Olympics.

Premier League games are suspended until April 3 but clubs are meeting on Thursday to discuss the likely next steps in the wake of the government's updated advice, issued on Monday.
