The 2019 Copa América quarterfinals continue on Friday with a fascinating matchup between one of the favorites that feature the best player in the world but could very easily go out against a tough opponent.

If this was played out only on paper, this would be a cakewalk for Argentina. After all, they have a better team and Lionel Messi, and Venezuela doesn’t have nearly enough talent. But this is the real world, and in the real world, Venezuela hasn’t lost to Argentina in four years and beat them 3-1 in a friendly back in March when both teams were at full strength.
It is not really an upset if Venezuela wins this one. They are more organized and solid defensively, they have a very solid striker in Salomón Rondón that can cause problems to any defense and they’ve played better than Argentina so far in the tournament. At the Maracanã they don’t need to park the bus or defend for their lives, they can take the game to the Albiceleste and make this a fun, open 90 minutes that are impossible to predict.
