Colombia has been easily the best team in the tournament so far. They were able to clinch both a spot in the quarterfinals and the top spot in the group with two wins from their first two games. James Rodríguez and Duván Zapata have been fantastic in the attacking front, while Wilmar Barrios and Davinson Sánchez have been incredibly solid at the back.
With nothing to play for in this one, Colombia can rest their best players for the next round, which gives Paraguay a better chance to win and finish second. A draw also works if there’s no winner in the Qatar-Argentina game, which allows Paraguay to qualify in third place with a tie and a winner in the other match, provided Japan doesn’t get a victory on Monday.
Paraguay will rely on Miguel Almirón and Derlis González to bring the magic and lead their nation to a big result and a spot in the next round, while the Colombia reserves will look to give their manager a selection headache for the quarterfinals. This is going to be entertaining and fun, marking the craziest group in this year’s Copa América. It’s going right down to the wire.
