COP26 traffic heatmap on M77 as Ayrshire commuters braced for gridlock nightmare

Ayrshire commuters could be hit by severe traffic issues later this month.

COP26 is set to take place in Glasgow between Sunday, October 31 and Friday, November 12.

A new heatmap released this week shows where roads are likely to be worst hit in and around the city during the crucial climate emergency conference.

It's been forecast that the M77 — a major road used by many Ayrshire commuters — is going to be "significantly busier than usual" along with the M8 and the M74 going in and out of the city.

With more than 30,000 delegates, officials and climate change activists from across the globe descending on the city, organisers also say that bus services could be disrupted.

Disruption will continue on the M8 and on to the Clyde Tunnel too, according to documents.
