COP26: Hundreds of protestors take to the streets of Govan to rally against military climate change profits

Hundreds of protesters took to the streets today of Govan to rally against military companies profiting from climate change.

The Extinction Rebellion protest started outside a Home Office immigration faculty in Glasgow to show solidarity with refugees displaced by war and climate change.

Drummers rallied the protesters outside the UK visa and immigration office in Brand Street in Govan.

The protesters held up banners saying “war costs the earth” and “climate chaos creates war“.

George Barda, a father of two from Bristol, had traveled to Glasgow to join protests demanding action from the COP26 climate change conference

Standing across the Clyde from the COP26 campus, he said climate change was now responsible for deadly conflicts across the globe as tensions rise with increasing droughts flood, food shortage and population displacement.

George added: “There is an irrefutable link between military conflict and rising temperatures.

‘The more war there is the more profit there is for companies like Bae systems. ‘

He said the rally was calling for people to join the dots between war and climate change.

He said the developed world had a duty to halt climate change and consequently the suffering of warn torn peoples across the globe.
