Falkirk East MSP Michelle Thomson is "confident" police and relevant authorities are "well equipped" to deal with potential protest in outside Ineso during COP26.
The huge climate change summit kicks off in Glasgow on Sunday, and there is a threat activists will stage similar protests like in London over recent weeks.
Ineos is Scotland biggest polluter and bosses there have already publicly stated a pledge to reduce our own emissions to Net Zero by 2045.
That includes setting ambitious targets for 2030 and a track record of a 37% CO2 reduction since INEOS took over the site in 2005.
Ms Thomson told Falkirk Live: "COP26 is vital for the future of our societies. Decisions made at this climate conference will act as a catalyst for change at every level.
"The future of our environment is also important when considering our industries here in Falkirk East. I’m encouraged to see investment which will put industrial activities on a more sustainable footing.
"Protecting both our environment and economy are tasks that can be carried out hand in hand, and I look forward to helping take those steps as we move through COP26 and into delivering on our commitments.
"I am mindful that protests are likely to occur in line with COP26. I do, however, have confidence that Police Scotland and the appropriate authorities are well equipped to deal with any disruption that may occur.
"We have a duty to uphold and discharge the fundamental freedoms of speech and expression, but we must do so peacefully and respectful of those within our communities."
