Cops have launched a probe after reports of a racist social media video aimed at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos following yesterday's Old Firm clash.
The Columbian forward, who scored his first goal against Celtic during yesterday's 1-1 result, was reportedly the subject of a video online where he was compared to a monkey.
Police confirmed to the Daily Record that they were investigating.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "An investigation is underway after we received a number of complaints regarding an offensive social media post and enquiries are ongoing."
The probe comes after Light Blues captain James Tavernier spoke out about racial abuse he and other stars had received.
Rangers and Celtic stood united ahead of Sunday's derby draw at Parkhead in the wake of an alleged racist slur aimed at Glen Kamara by Slavia Prague's Ondrej Kudela in midweek, while home captain Scott Brown embraced the Finland international during the warm-up.
Both clubs agreed they would not take the knee ahead of the fixture, with Tavernier adamant a stronger message is now required.
He said: “We took a knee to send out a message but we believe that message isn’t strong enough.
“What we did was stand up to send out a bigger message that we need action on these things that are occurring regularly now.
“We wanted to send out a strong message and it was an easy decision.
“You saw the situation on Thursday and that is going to get taken care of.
“But I feel confident saying that all our black players have received racial abuse this season.
“That’s from social media platforms and this is a key message to them."
Morelos celebrated with his wife and a red, white and blue pyro display in his garden after his strike yesterday.
