Cop allegedly snapchatted sex with colleague

A New South Wales police officer accused of filming a colleague during sex and uploading the video to social media app Snapchat has faced court.

Timothy Michael Patterson, 27, allegedly secretly filmed a female colleague during consensual sex while they were off duty in the Sydney CBD in July this year.

Patterson, a senior constable who is attached to a specialist command, then allegedly uploaded the video to Snapchat without the female officer's knowledge.

On Monday he appeared in the Downing Centre Local Court charged with filming a person in a private act without consent and using an internet carriage service to harass or offend.

The NSW Police Force confirmed its Professional Standards Command is investigating the incident. Patterson has been suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case.

Patterson did not enter a plea when his case was heard briefly.

He was excused from appearing in person when the matter returns to court on November 21.
