That’s it in terms of above the line updates today - please feel free to continue sharing the day’s political news, links and opinions in the comments section. See you all tomorrow.

Some afternoon links from our readers below the line.

And in case you missed it earlier, our own Polly Toynbee has written in support of Yvette Cooper.

Updated

Labour leadership candidate Andy Burnham has appeared on BBC Radio 4’s World at One. His comments on how Jeremy Corbyn has energised the race and on Blair’s intervention are particularly interesting.

As promised earlier this week, we have an all-singing, all-dancing interactive which may help you decide who to vote for in the Labour leadership election (if you haven’t already decided).

As Patrick Wintour points out, Politics Home have a full transcript of Yvette Cooper’s speech.

Helen Pidd, our northern editor, has been tweeting from Yvette Cooper’s speech in Manchester. She seems underwhelmed.

Here’s Andrew Sparrow’s write-up of Yvette Cooper’s speech. It begins:

Yvette Cooper has claimed Jeremy Corbyn’s policies are not credible and accused him of offering “old solutions to old problems”, in a speech injecting fresh antagonism into the Labour leadership contest.

Speaking in Manchester on Thursday, Cooper said Corbyn, the leftwinger who has become the surprise runaway favourite in the race, was proposing economic policies that could increase inflation, cut investment and undermine growth.

She also claimed he would damage Labour’s reputation as an internationalist party, saying: “Internationalism is a core Labour principle and I will fight for it.”

Andrew is not writing his usual Politics Live blog during summer recess but, as an alternative, here’s Politics Live: readers’ edition. It’s intended to be a place where you can catch up with the latest news and find links to good politics blogs and articles on the web.

Please feel free to use this as somewhere you can comment on any of the day’s political stories - just as you do during the daily blog. It would be particularly useful for readers to flag up new material in the comments - breaking news or blogposts or tweets that are worth passing on because someone is going to find them interesting.

Our splash overnight was Tony Blair’s piece in our opinion pages, warning of “rout, possibly annihilation” if Labour members and supporters plump for Corbyn as leader.

Today, Yvette Cooper will set out her stall and also warn against the lure of Corbyn, though presumably in less apocalyptic language. Meanwhile, Corbyn is attending rallies north of the border - and our Scotland editor, Severin Carrell, will be reporting on these.

In the last of our Labour leader candidate profiles, we hear from the aforementioned Cooper.
