Cooper Parry strengthens its expansion plans by hiring a debt advisory expert

The firm's website description hails them as  'the rebels of accountancy', now Cooper Parry is looking to expand its reach further and has hired Paul Ambrose as a debt advisory specialist.

The firm says the appointment will complement its corporate finance business and strengthen its position in the sub £200m turnover deals market; especially as they expand into London and the southern market.

Paul has over 30 years’ experience as both an advisor and a lender with PwC and Barclays.

He said: "I’m delighted to have joined Cooper Parry to expand our Corporate Finance offering. I love meeting shareholders and management teams, understanding their businesses and their goals, and working with them to put in place the right financing solutions."

The UK debt market has evolved over the last few years with many new funders now providing alternatives to the mainstream banks. There are now well over 50 banks and other institutions providing debt to the UK mid-market, and on top of that, it’s estimated that at least 50 percent of all private equity transactions in 2018 were financed by alternative, non-bank lenders.

Andy Parker, corporate finance partner said: "Given the increasing complexity and range of debt providers, having a dedicated debt advisor in our team and providing genuinely expert advice to clients is essential.

"Having worked with Paul both at PwC and as a consultant on a substantial healthcare investment by Livingbridge last year, I’m sure we have the right person to build our debt advisory and corporate finance business.

"Paul’s presence in London, as well as his strong relationships with Midlands banks and debt providers, gives us a real advantage and will play a big part in growing and enhancing Cooper Parry’s brand in London."
