Cool stay of the week: a cylindrical barn in the Kent countryside

Perched among the paddocks and pastures of a working farm in the Kent countryside, not too far from historic Canterbury, Bumble Barn is a charming getaway.

This week’s Cool Stay of the Week combines space age interiors with timber cladding and a living roof, and has room for six guests across its three bedrooms – a master and two twin rooms.

Bathed in natural light, the barn is packed with modern amenities to entertain you during your down time and outside, the patio is a dreamy spot to recline with a glass of wine.

On top of the barn, guests will discover a planted living roof that keeps the barn cool in summer and insulated during the cooler months. It also provides pollen for the local bees and birds. The eco-conscious cabin also heats using underfloor infra-red technology and a heat exchange system.

Nearby Canterbury makes for a popular destination for those looking to combine culture with rugged beauty and excellent pubs during their holiday. The city also has abundant restaurants, galleries, shops, bars, and architecturally significant buildings which are well worth exploring. For those wanting to explore the coast, head to Herne Bay for jet-skiing in the summer months, or Whitstable for the iconic south-eastern coastal experience.

Where? Canterbury, Kent.

Sleeps: six.

Price: from £300 per night.
