Cool stay of the week: a country yurt in rural Wales

If you’re after a romantic getaway but also want to give a bit back, this week’s Cool Stay of the Week is the ideal break as proceeds from stays at this luxe yurt help fund the work of Malawi-based charities supporting child education and reforestation projects.

Located on a family-run farm in the Welsh countryside, this yurt offers a cosy interior with a king-sized oak bed, reclaimed pine table and a wood-burning stove. The bathroom is nearby with a hot shower, wash basin and a composting toilet.

Surrounded by lush greenery, expect to be dazzled by the starry skies at night and enjoy the peace and quiet during the day where you can enjoy the benefits of the on-site hot tub and pizza oven.

Walkers will delight in the footpaths and hiking trails nearby, and there are also opportunities to go mountain biking, climbing, canoeing and sailing.

Tenby harbour is close by and from there you can take a guided boat tour to see Caldey Island, home to Cisterian Monks, or the hundreds of puffins settled on Skomer Island.

Where? Carmarthenshire, Wales

Price: £75 to £130 per night

Sleeps: four.
