Sitting pretty on the southern shore of Loch Ness, the very modern Kilchuimen House (built in 2019) is our Cool Stay of the Week.
With four king-size bedrooms, all sharing views of the lush surroundings, the home also has a large open-plan living area featuring a double-sided log burning stove, large comfy sofas, a smart TB and floor to ceiling glass doors that open onto a calming patio.
To the other side of the woodburner is the dining area, with a large table that easily seats eight and local artwork on the wall. Here you can dine in style with lake and glen views as your backdrop.
Guests will find the bedrooms split between the ground and first floor, all are luxuriously dressed with neutral colour palettes, crisp white linen and beautifully furnished.
The first floor also has a separate seating area - with plush velvet sofas, double height glass doors and a glass-fronted balcony taking in the most gorgeous lochside views, it’s a fabulous place to while away an afternoon.
To the front and side of the house is a fully-enclosed garden. With patio furniture and a charcoal BBQ - it’s the ideal place for a spot of al-fresco dining or drinks at sunset.
Located just a short walk from the bustling village of Fort Augustus, there’s plenty of places to eat out if you fancy a night off from cooking. Fill your days with Highland adventures - from hill walking, climbing and mountain biking to whitewater rafting. For those with gentler adventures in mind, there’s still plenty to see - from castles to the stunning West Scotland coastline. And of course the lake offers up plenty of activities with cruises and the award-winning Loch Ness visitor centre.
