Cookstown Recycling Centre fire as NIFRS crews attend scene

Fire crews have been dealing with a blaze at a recycling centre in Co Tyrone this evening.

Crews were called to the scene at Cookstown Recycling Centre on Saturday evening after reports of a fire at the site on Molesworth Street.

A spokesperson for Mid Ulster District council confirmed the fire had been isolated and is under control. No-one has been injured in the incident.

Chair of the Council's Environment Committee, Councillor Wilbert Buchanan, is at the scene and said: "I'd like to reassure local people that the situation is under control and thank the emergency services and our staff who are now working to extinguish the fire'.

The Council said that details of any impact on the centre's re-opening will be released in due course.
