Cookin' with Coolio - how pukka is that?

Isn't it great when celebrities deign to teach us, ignorant trolls that we are? Today's scholarly figure is Hilary Duff, a seminal figure in the history of modern music. Hilary has made that career leap that has reinvented so many legends' professional paths by starring in an infomercial.

The storyline of the advert itself is too complex to go into (there's something about a top that's also a skirt - so metaphysical!) but it concludes with Hilary warning against certain youth terminology: "When you say, 'That's so gay', think about what you say," she intones solemnly.

Right now Lost in Showbiz is thinking, wow, that's perhaps the catchiest thing ever uttered by the Duff. Meanwhile, Coolio has been improving this column's life for almost a year with his Cookin' with Coolio on the under-appreciated mydamnchannel.com website, in which the Gangsta's Paradise rapper "teach[es] yo' ass how to cook".

Does Jamie Oliver have half-dressed Sauce Girls on hand? Does Nigella interrupt her stirring demonstrations to snap her fingers at the camera and shout, "Shaka-zulu, motherfucker!" If only. Coolio is now collating his recipes into book format. Don't say "spin-off", say "rival to Delia". Fingers collectively crossed that it will include his recipe for mozzarella and tomato salad, something you wouldn't necessarily think required elaboration. But, as Coolio said in the episode that taught us all how to make it, his is a special salad, perfect for all "them salad-eating bitches and will get them panties off in no time".

Presumably the book won't end, as that episode did, with Coolio promising to send one lucky viewer an autographed yellow pepper but then the book never is as good as the TV version.
