Jan. 14--The Cook County Land Bank Authority is on the hunt for a new executive director after the departure of Brian White.
"Our first executive director, Brian White, has done a tremendous job creating this foundation and his skills and experience in the start-up of the land bank have been invaluable," Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer, chairman of the land bank, wrote in an email.
"As we look to the next phase of the land bank we are seeking a leader who will build upon all that has been accomplished and continue the mission of transforming communities."
Last year, the land bank sold its first homes to developers who will rehab them and market them for sale.
White was hired by the land bank a year ago, receiving a three-year contract with a $150,000 annual salary. Before joining the group, he worked at Charter One and Lakeside Community Development Corp., a nonprofit community development organization.
"I am proud of what we accomplished in a short time and especially the ways we created unique and tailored partnerships with municipalities, community groups, and financial institutions," White said in an email. "The land bank is poised for a big 2015. The next director inherits a solid foundation."
