There was a lot of talk this offseason about the Vikings improving their running game.
So far in 2019, they have done just that.
The Vikings rank third in the NFL with 954 rushing yards through six weeks.
The running back duo of Dalvin Cook and Alexander Mattison have accounted for 835 of those yards, a mark that leads all running back duos in the league. Cook has 583 rushing yards, while Mattison has 252.
Cook isn’t much of a surprise. We all know that Cook had this talent, the factor was always him staying health. As for Mattison, he looks like a steal considering the team took him in the third round. A lot of people thought that was a reach by the Vikings, but it’s proving to be quite the opposite.
The duo will have its next chance to show off in Week 7 against the Lions in Detroit. The Lions rank 27th in the league against the run.
