Convicted paedo rapist arrested in Cork city after failing to show up for sentencing

Convicted paedo rapist Anthony Moynihan was arrested in Cork on Saturday morning after failing to show up for sentencing.

Monster Moynihan was handed down a seven year jail term on Friday, but never arrived at the Central Criminal Court in Dublin for the hearing.

He had previously pleaded guilty to two charges of rape and two counts of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old boy on dates between September 9, 2006 and June 27, 2008, CorkBeo reports.

A bench warrant for his arrest was issued in his absence when he failed to turn up.

Gardai arrested the 54-year-old brute on Saturday and he is now back in custody.

Victim Dylan Higgins, who previously waived his right to anonymity so that the sicko sex fiend could be named, said he was happy with the sentence handed down.

Speaking to Virgin Media News after the hearing, the now 23-year-old said: “I’m happy with the sentencing but I’m not delighted that he didn’t show up. I’m not happy with the no-show.

“He’s evil, he’s bad and he’s just not a nice person. He’s sick, he’s sick in the head.”

Dylan was abused by the evil beast over a two-year-period and came forward so that rapist would be publicly shamed for what he did.

He added: “I think all people like him, all monsters like him should be named and shamed for what they have done to people, that’s why.

“I wanted him to be ashamed of what he did. I want everyone to know, to be aware of him, and just to know that face.

“Before I went forward, I couldn’t go to sleep without thinking aboutit, thinking about what I have been though.

“I couldn’t cry about it, I just thought about it every time.

“I was close to the edge, very close to the edge of not being a survivor but I have been a victim all my life.”

Dylan also had some advice for any other victims of sexual abuse.

The brave Cork man said: “Keep your head high and keep yourself going and don’t ever think you are worthless because you’re not.”
