Convicted beggar told to behave is 'mouthy' to police

A convicted beggar told to behave himself by a judge was abusive to police afterwards.

Benjamin Badman was handed a deferred sentence after admitting asking for money in Regent Street, Weston-super-Mare, in December last year.

The 21-year-old, of Severn Road, Weston-super-Mare, admitted begging and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order.

In August Judge Julian Lambert told him to go away and behave himself until today, (December 23, 2021)

When Badman turned up at Bristol Crown Court, late, the court heard that last month he committed a public order offence.

Catherine Flint, defending, said: "It was on November 7.

"He was drunk and he was a bit mouthy to a couple of Police Community Support Officers.

"He has pleaded guilty and he is being sentenced on January 5."

Judge Julian Lambert handed Badman a six months community order with two days' rehabilitation.

He told Badman: "I can't parent you.

"I can't be your mate.

"I can't be your social worker.

"I'm the judge.

"Thank Miss Flint and get yourself off to the train station."
