A conveyancer has been accused of pocketing $5 million in property transactions from more than two dozen home owners.

Police allege the Avondale Heights conveyancer falsified cheques, loan documents and kept the money during a series of incidents from October 2022 to August 2023.

A 48-year-old woman was arrested at a home in Weir Views in Melbourne's northwest on Saturday.

She has been charged with obtaining financial advantage by deception and is set to face court in May.

So far 23 victims have been identified and Victoria Police describe the majority of them as being from the Vietnamese community.

The investigation remains open and anyone with information has been asked to come forward.
