Converted church offers quirky holiday option amid continuing staycation boom

The staycation boom is still continuing well in 2022, with more families opting to stay in the UK following reports of various airport problems and flight cancellations. The popularity of a break in Britain is predicted to continue this coming August bank holiday weekend and continue well into the autumn.

Accommodation booking platform Independent Cottages has reported the demand for staycations is still increasing year-on-year despite International travel being back on the table. This has been substantiated by an 80 per cent rise in last-minute enquiries according to the UK self-catering accommodation providers.

This surge in popularity has been evident throughout the summer. Independent Cottages also reports that enquiries for the school summer holidays went up 23 per cent, leaving no doubt that domestic tourism this summer has been at some of its highest levels in recent years.

September still offers reasonable weather conditions for those that want a late-summer break when locations are less-crowded. From luxury retreats to quirky hideaways, Independent Cottages has a selection of ‘back-to-school’ holiday deals for anyone wanting a calmer and less busy UK break.

One of the most unusual venues is the converted St Curig's Church, set with a backdrop of Snowdonia’s National Park. Sleeping up to 16 guests, making it perfect for large groups of friends or work-colleagues looking to embark on some outdoor adventures, this beautiful church conversion makes for a memorable holiday in the heart of the Welsh countryside.

Original stonework, vaulted ceilings and even a mosaic dome can be admired above the property's piano and pool table. Other original features include the pulpit room with the original stone centrepiece of the church. Guests can also indulge in more modern touches, like the outdoor hot tub overlooking the Snowdonia landscape.

St Curig’s Church has a last-minute deal available for £2,690 for four -nights commencing on Friday September 2. For more information, check here.
