Converted 1970s school bus transformed into quirky holiday home with retro fittings

This 1970s school bus has been converted into a stunning holiday home with retro fixtures and fittings.

The Bluebird bus now offers an off-grid retreat for the ultimate getaway, having been in operation to transport children to school in Canada for years.

The retro conversion sleeps two guests and one dog, which comes at an extra cost of £20, reports Devon Live.

It has been decked out with a wood burner, gas oven, hob, thermoelectric cool box, charcoal BBQ, fire pit, wet-room style shower and one double bed.

This property offers an off-grid experience with no internet access although has 4G connection.

Bluebird, which is on farmland near a vineyard in Seaton, Devon, is a short drive to popular tourist destinations. These include Jurassic Coast and several beaches.

It is also within two miles and shops and pubs are within walking distance.

Other attractions and places of interest include the market town of Axminster, Axe Valley Wildlife Park, The Donkey Sanctuary, Lyme Regis Museum and Marine Aquarium, Seaton Tramway and numerous National Trust properties.

Private off-road parking for one car is provided.

A seven-night stay at the Bluebird bus starts from £356 and is being advertised on holidaycottages.co.uk with availability throughout the summer months.

The advert says: "Step inside this beautifully converted 1970s former Canadian school bus and you will firstly find the surprisingly light and spacious living area.

"Here a comfortable lounge area is located beside a warming wood burner, and the intimate dining area provides a lovely venue for a laid-back meal at the end of the day.

"Venture further inside and you will discover the bedroom compartment complete with fabulous original retro fixtures and fittings.

"The bus is situated down a private track in a secluded glade with open views of the countryside and ultimate privacy.

"It's close to the Devon, Dorset and Somerset borders, enabling you to explore all three counties with ease."
