Controversial 'very British' pie leaves people fuming

It's National Pie Week and one Instagram account has divided pie lovers everywhere with a controversial creation.

Instagram account Love Food shared a pie stuffed with chips, cheese and gravy and dubbed it "very British".

The account shared a tutorial style video showing viewers how to make the pie at home.

The clip of the "poor excuse of a ‘British pie’" begins with pastry being pressed into a dish, then filled with chips and topped with a generous helping of grated cheese.

Thick gravy and a pastry top are added before the pie is baked.

The video was captioned with: "It's National Pie Week in the UK... What Better Way to Celebrate it Than With a Very British Cheesy Chips and Gravy Stuffed Pie" and a smiley face emoji.

Instagram users were quick to dismiss the pie.

One Instagram user said: "I'm British and I’ve never had this. I wouldn’t call it a very British thing. Maybe chips and gravy or cheesy chips but not all together"

One commented: "What a load of s**t. Maybe you should actually visit the UK before you call something "very British"."

Another said: "This is not a British pie. It's a piece of mush no British person would eat."

One person wasn't impressed with the pie but did like the music in the video.

They said: "Lmao while y’all insult that mistake and poor excuse of a ‘British pie’ does anyone know what the song is?"

Another simply commented: "No."

Despite the majority of people dismissing the pie, some Instagram users wanted to give it a try.

One person said: "this video is doing things to me, whenever I’m next eternally hungover this is what I want"

And another said: "Omg!!! I want this in my belly."
