A big wheel overlooking Portobello Beach and the Firth of Forth has been given the go-ahead to open to the public.
The 32-metre-tall attraction is opening today following Scottish Government advice that funfairs can return from August 24.
Operators had originally hoped to open the wheel from August 3 to August 24, but were told by council chiefs to keep it closed due to COVID restrictions.
Now the big wheel will be allowed to operate until August 30, with NHS workers being offered free rides between the hours of 11am and 12pm if they bring ID.
The big wheel caused controversy when it was first erected after Portobello Beach attracted large crowds and disturbances when people flocked to the beach in crowds.
Lothians MSP and Local Government spokesperson Sarah Boyack said that 'residents were not considered on this matter and would have been unlikely to approve of a structure that enables people to look directly into their homes, invading their privacy.'

She added: “It is unacceptable that locals, including key shift workers, should have their lives disrupted by noise including those working from home who will have to endure loud music all day, or those who have children going to sleep in the evenings."
But operators Thomson Events Group said it was "great' news that they would be operating this week and it will give locals a "chance to view Portobello and Edinburgh like never before."
