Controversial comedian Louis CK was set to perform 'Sorry' show in Ukraine today

Controversial comedian Louis C.K. was set to perform in the capital of Ukraine today - but called it off as "my flight was cancelled".

Real name Louis Székely, the 54-year-old American stand-up comedian and filmmaker was set to perform in Kyiv today, at the National Palace of Arts.

He is currently touring Europe with his new show, aptly named 'Sorry', after stepping out of the limelight in 2017 following allegations of sexual misconduct.

Tickets for the show were available with 30 per cent off and until Tuesday, February 22, it was officially going ahead, but now it has been cancelled as C.K. said: “My flight was cancelled because no one can fly there now."

News of the show going ahead was shared on Twitter by user Patrick Verisimilitude, who shared a screenshot of a message to ticket holders.

It reads: "Dear attendants, Louis C.K. performance will take place, as planned, on February 25 and 26, 2022. Tickets for Louis C.K. show purchased earlier remain valid for new dates and do not require an exchange."

But soon C.K. updated members of his mailing list, saying: "I am not in Ukraine. My flight was cancelled because no one can fly there now," as the Los Angeles Times reports.

C.K. has been out of the limelight since 2017 but in 2021 he announced an international comedy tour of his new show, 'Sorry'.

In 2017, he confirmed allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by several women, and the backlash from the scandal led to several of his projects being pulled from production.

Announcing his new tour, he wrote: "'Hello Person that you are being right now, I am writing you today because I am going to be touring around the United States of America, performing stand-up comedy in theatres in several different cities."

The tour began in America with shows around the States, then went over to Europe with dates in Spain, Portugal, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and, amongst others, Ukraine.

He was due to perform in Kyiv for two nights, on February 25 and 26, a day after Russia launched a large-scale invasion into Ukraine.

Travelling to Ukraine is currently advised against and the airspace is closed.
