A member of the public found the equipment in Windmill Lane, Worksop, just after 5.30pm on Friday, October 16.

A specialist bomb disposal unit was sent to the scene and a controlled explosion was carried out just after 10.30am. No evacuations were required, Nottinghamshire Police confirmed.

Inspector Simon Riley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’d like to thank the local community and our partners for their support in bringing this situation to a safe conclusion.”
