A contractor has been appointed to undertake specialist works on a £2.7 million Hull regeneration scheme.
Boundaries of several sites are to be restored as part of the Beverley Road Townscape Heritage Scheme, which aims to revitalise the southern end of the historic gateway into the city centre.
City firm PBS Construction will deliver the specialist works at 15 properties across six locations facing onto Beverley Road, including Stepney Station, Grade Two listed terraces, Beverley Road Baths and Kingston Youth Centre.
Councillor Aneesa Akbar, chair of the programme board, said: “I am extremely pleased to see that this project is moving forward and it’s fantastic to have a local specialist on board who I believe understand the importance of this restoration project.
“These works, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and match-funded by the council, will complement other areas of the scheme that have already taken place including the public realm decluttering works and tree planting which took place in 2017, and the current delivery of the grant programme with the repair and restoration of properties including the Station Inn, the Ping Pong Club and 78 Beverley Road.
“I am very much looking forward to seeing them completed.”
Work is scheduled to begin in early autumn.
