Contract status of every Leeds United player with several big decisions ahead for Victor Orta

After a busy summer transfer window, the work for Leeds United’s hierarchy is far from over. Victor Orta and company have plenty of conversations to be had on the club’s contract situation, with a number of first team players into the final two-years of their deal.

Should Leeds secure a third consecutive year of Premier League football, it could be a time for Orta and Jesse Marsch to show their ruthless side with some members of the squad. On the other hand, there are several key players with time ticking on their deals that will need tying down long-term.

So with the transfer window now very much behind us, here is a look at the contract status of each player, including a selection of youngsters and those out on loan.

2023

Luke Ayling

Ayling made his return to the side in the 5-2 defeat at Brentford last weekend but will have his work cut out to earn a new deal after the £10 million signing of Rasmus Kristensen in the summer, and the progression of Cody Drameh.

Adam Forshaw

Forshaw's put to pen to paper on a new contract in January, keeping him at Elland Road until the summer of 2023.

Mateusz Bogusz

The young midfield joined Leeds in 2019 and was rewarded with a new deal until 2023 just 18 months later. Another loan deal to Ibiza may signal his lack of long-term future at Elland Road, though.

Joel Robles

Experienced goalkeeper Joel Robles signed a one-year-deal after signing on a free transfer last month.

2024

Liam Cooper

Cooper will have been at Elland Road for a decade by the time his contract expires. He will turn 33 in the summer of 2024 and will need to prove that these injury issues in the last 10 months are not a recurring theme if he wants a new deal.

Pascal Struijk

The versatile Struijk signed for Leeds as an 18-year-old in 2018. Two years later, he was rewarded with a new contract. A contract Leeds will certainly want sorting before next summer.

Robin Koch

The German defender signed a four-year deal when he was signed by Marcelo Bielsa in 2020 and his form at the start of this season could prompt Leeds into extending his stay.

Diego Llorente

There seems to be a theme with Leeds centre-backs being out of contract in 2024, with Llorente's deal also expiring. A big decision in the next 12 months for him and the club.

Cody Drameh

Drameh still has two years remaining on his Elland Road deal but will want more first team action if he is to stay beyond 2024.

Rodrigo

Leeds smashed their club-record fee when they signed Rodrigo for £26 million in 2020. He is halfway through his deal at the Whites and a big decision could be on the horizon regarding his future.

Mateusz Klich

After impressing in the Championship for a couple of seasons, the Poland international signed a new four-and-a-half year deal in 2019. His role this season could be an indicator his time at Elland Road will come to an end soon.

Stuart Dallas

Dallas isn't set to return to action until 2023 after sustaining a serious injury against Manchester City last season. Once he's back from the treatment table, he'll have one year remaining on his deal.

Ian Poveda

Leeds picked up the exciting winger on a four-year deal in 2020, and he has made 20 first-team appearances for the Whites since. Once Poveda returns from his loan at Blackpool, he’ll have just 12 months left.

Helder Costa

Costa is currently on loan at Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad and like Poveda, will have 12 months left on his deal if he returns.

Jack Harrison

After fending off interest from Newcastle in the summer, a new contract will almost certainly be in the pipeline soon after his start to the season.

Tyler Roberts

Roberts will have just 12 months left to run on his deal if he return from his loan at QPR, who are said to have a permanent purchase option.

Jamie Shackleton

After promotion in 2020, Shackleton signed a new four-year-deal. A loan spell at Millwall – with some reports indicating with a permanent option – could indicate his long-term future lays elsewhere.

Lewis Bate

Bate will have just 12 months left to run on his deal when he returns from his loan spell at Oxford United. A big season ahead to prove himself for the midfielder.

2025

Kristoffer Klaesson

Klaesson is yet to make his first Premier League start, but he has time to make that right with three years remaining on his contract in Yorkshire.

Junior Firpo

Leeds gave Firpo a four-year deal last July, hoping he was going to bring an end to their long-lasting left-back problem.

Charlie Cresswell

The next stage of Cresswell’s development commenced this season with a season-long-loan move to Millwall. An impressive season there could prove the catalyst to a long term future at Leeds.

Leo Hjelde

Hjedle, another summer of 2021 recruit, put pen to paper on a four-year deal. At just 19, time is certainly on his side.

Sonny Perkins

After leaving West Ham in the summer, Perkins signed a three-year-deal with Leeds in July. He has scored in all five of his U21 matches so far, and is expected to have a bright future.

Mateo Joseph

Joseph joined from Espanyol in January and put pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year-deal. It has not taken him long to settle into life in England.

2026

Ilan Meslier

Meslier was rewarded with a long-term deal last summer but it wouldn’t be a surprise if the top clubs begin circling in the next 12 months.

Marc Roca

Signed by Marsch this summer, the former Bayern Munich midfielder is set to stay at Elland Road until 2026.

Darko Gyabi

Another summer recruit, Gyabi comes highly-rated from Manchester City, and penned a four-year deal.

Dan James

James still has just under four-years left to run on his deal at Leeds, but his deadline day loan move to Fulham indicates his future at the club could be over already.

Patrick Bamford

Off the back of a sensational season in 2020/21, where he led Leeds to a ninth-placed finish in the Premier League, Bamford signed a new deal with the Whites.

Sam Greenwood

With just one year left on his initial deal, Greenwood put pen-to-paper on a new four-year contract at the beginning of August.

Crysencio Summerville

Like Greenwood, Summerville also agreed terms on a new four-year-deal last month.

2027

Rasmus Kristensen

Five of the six 2027 contract-expirees are players who signed for Leeds this summer. Right-back Kristensen was one of those to be given a five-year deal.

Brenden Aaronson

Aaronson followed the same path of Kristensen - signing from Red Bull Salzburg on a long-term deal.

Tyler Adams

Just like the previous two players, Adams has worked with Marsch before, and the Leeds head coach handed the American midfielder a long-term contract to show his faith.

Luis Sinisterra

Leeds' most recent signing of the window, Sinisterra also signed a five-year deal.

Joe Gelhardt

After a breakthrough season in 2021/22, Joe Gelhardt was rewarded with a new five-year-deal in August ahead of the new Premier League campaign.

Wilfried Gnonto

Highly rated 18-year-old Wilfried Gnonto joined Leeds on deadline day and signed a five-year-deal at Elland Road.
