Contract details for Titans’ deal with Jadeveon Clowney revealed

While there was some uncertainty as to whether or not Jadeveon Clowney was really coming to the Tennessee Titans on Saturday night, we now have better confirmation that it’s happening.

After ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported that Clowney was expected to join the Titans, Josina Anderson noted that the free-agent pass-rusher told her he hadn’t yet made his final decision, which kind of left things in limbo.

However, late last night Anderson reported that Clowney had finally told her he was indeed going to Nashville despite a valiant effort from the New Orleans Saints. At the end of the day, it was about familiarity with Clowney, who has experience playing under Titans head coach Mike Vrabel.

On Sunday morning, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed the details of the contract the Titans are giving Clowney. The deal will be for one year and worth more than $12 million dollars.

Considering there were several reports throughout Clowney watch that said he was dead set on getting anywhere from $15-20 million in a deal, Tennessee will have gotten an absolute steal the closer to $12 million the figure actually is.

Now, the Titans will try to get Clowney acclimated as quickly as possible in the hopes he can start contributing right away in Week 1, and all of a sudden Tennessee’s pass-rush went from suspect to deadly in one fail swoop.
