Contract details for Steelers QB Mason Rudolph’s 1-year extension

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the contract extension signed by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph is worth $5 million with the potential to add up to $4 million more based on incentives linked to playing time.

Rudolph will now have an extra season to make his case to be the heir apparent to Ben Roethlisberger when he retires. Rudolph started eight games in place of Roethlisberger back in 2019 and went 5-3 despite putting up very poor passing numbers. If Rudolph is betting on himself to be the next Steelers quarterback rather than test free agency, there are many areas of his game he needs to improve upon.
