Contract details for new Chargers QB Tyrod Taylor

The numbers are in on newly acquired quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s deal with the Chargers.

Los Angeles is signing Taylor to a two-year contract. The deal is worth $11 million, and he will receive $6 million guaranteed in the first year, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Taylor’s deal is a bit heftier than most people would’ve expected to pay for a backup quarterback. But the Bolts are receiving a proven player that will provide a reliable signal caller in case Philip Rivers were to go down.

The Chargers decision to sign Taylor to a two-year deal is great because it basically means that the team won’t be reaching for a quarterback in this year’s class, which is a bit weak compared to others.

Along with that, they could use him as a good trade option at the end of the 2019 season, if the team opts to go down that route.
