Contract details for new Chargers LB Thomas Davis

The numbers are in on newly acquired linebacker Thomas Davis’ deal with the Chargers.

Davis’ two-year deal is worth $10.5 million. The deal averages $5.25 million per season. It also includes a $1 million roster bonus due next year in March, according to NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero.

To simplify the deal, Denzel Perryman’s re-signing was worth two years for $12 million. This means that general manager Tom Telesco once again landed a steal with the addition of Thomas by having two proven linebackers, when they’re able to stay on the field, on the roster .

Los Angeles is paying Davis to bring in a reliable veteran that’ll offer good play at the position, along with a strong voice in the locker room and mentorship for the younger linebackers.

The contract does not become official until Wednesday, when the NFL league year changes and teams can officially sign free agents.
