Contract details for Donte Moncrief show good value for the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping wide receiver Donte Moncrief can help fill some of the void created when the team traded Antonio Brown to the Oakland Raiders. The terms of Moncrief’s contract are out and thankfully regardless of what happens, he won’t be a strain on the salary cap.

The way the contract is structured it’s basically a one-year deal with the option for the Steelers to release Moncrief after 2019 with very little salary cap repercussions.

But let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Back in 2015 Moncrief hauled in 64 passes for 733 yards. I’m sure the Steelers would be elated if he could get those kinds of numbers in the lineup with JuJu Smith-Schuster.

The addition of Moncrief doesn’t mean Pittsburgh is done working to bolster the wide receiver position. Don’t be surprised if the Steelers use a high draft pick on an impact receiver or even look to free agency late to add another veteran.
