Conti Cup record smashed as Arsenal and Chelsea to face off in final at Selhurst Park

More than 10,000 tickets have already been sold for this year's Continental Cup final between Arsenal and Chelsea.

Both sides were given a bye to the knockout stages owing to their participation in the UEFA Women's Champions League. Chelsea scored seven without reply to dump West Ham out of the competition in the semi-finals while Stina Blackstenius' strike in extra time was enough to see Arsenal advance at the expense of Manchester City.

The Gunners have lifted the trophy on five previous occasions, making them the most successful side in the competition's history, while Chelsea were denied their third Conti Cup title in 2022 after Manchester City triumphed in the final at Wimbledon's Cherry Red Records Stadium.

8,004 came through the door that night but that record crowd has already been surpassed with three weeks still to go before this year's final on Sunday, March 5. The showpiece event will take place at Selhurst Park, marking the first time the 25,456-seater venue will have hosted the final in the 11-year history of the tournament.

Home to Premier League side Crystal Palace since 1924, Selhurst Park is no stranger to hosting top-level women’s football, with the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Final held there on three occasions between 2001 and 2003.

Reflecting on the decision to host the final at Selhust Park, Kelly Simmons, FA Director of The Women's Professional Game, said: "We’re really looking forward to working with Crystal Palace over the coming months to put on a really exciting final.

“Selhurst Park hosts some of the best men’s players in the world over the course of the season in the Premier League and has also played host to the brilliant Crystal Palace in the Barclays Women’s Championship. It is a fitting venue for the Final to be held in March.”
