There's a chicken coop and vegie garden set up at his new Gold Coast home but Levi Casboult isn't ready to settle down just yet.
The Suns forward made the most of his move north last season, lifting after Ben King's pre-season knee injury to kick a career-best 35 goals in his 11th AFL campaign.
He also kicked 22 behinds and, along with fellow recruit Mabior Chol, crashed packs to create opportunities for the Suns' growing list of dangerous small forwards and attacking midfielders.
The Casboult family have moved from Palm Beach to Currumbin Valley, his three children enjoying life outside the "Melbourne fishbowl" as much as their father.
"We're on an acre with chooks and a vegie garden and I only get noticed (on the street) by Carlton supporters," the former Blues star told AAP.
"Anybody who comes from here and goes back to a Melbourne club, I don't know what they're doing. But I guess you've got to experience Melbourne to know what it's like."
Despite star forward King's season-long absence, the Suns still managed 10 victories in 2022 and were two wins shy of the top-eight.
Casboult, 32, will now play alongside the fit-again King in a partnership the club hopes can push them into a maiden finals campaign.
"He's a pretty level-headed guy, pretty relaxed around the club and very good, very talented," Casboult said of King, who has recovered from knee surgery.
"I'm excited to see him back on the park and see what he can do.
"Last pre-season (before King was injured) I did a lot of ruck, didn't really spend a lot of time forward with Kingy, so I'm looking forward to forming a connection with him and Choly, hopefully we can get some synergy.
"We're aiming for finals and think we've put ourselves in position to have a crack."
With livewire goal hound Joel Jeffrey in fine pre-season form there is competition for spots and tactical selection options at Stuart Dew's disposal.
But Casboult has likely done enough to retain his spot and stave off retirement talks for another year.
"I'm over 30 so it's one-year deals for me now; every year is a question of how the body is holding up, and having a young family while being a pro, you can be selfish at times," he said.
"But I still love it, still love the hard work that comes with it and the drive to improve.
"When's the right time to pull the pin? That's a conversation I've been having with my wife and footy club for the last few years."
