Contenders Dominick Reyes, Jan Blachowicz mock Jon Jones after UFC champ’s latest arrest

UFC light heavyweight contenders Dominick Reyes and Jan Blachowicz appear to be rather amused by Jon Jones’ latest legal mishap.

Reyes (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) and Blachowicz (26-8 MMA, 9-5 UFC), who were seemingly in a two-man race to determine the next challenge for Jones (26-1 MMA, 20-1 UFC), threw additional shade at the champion after he was arrested Thursday morning in Albuquerque, N.M., on multiple charges, including driving under the influence and negligent use of a firearm.

Jones’ most recent opponent, Reyes, took some personal shots in the lead-up to their February title fight at UFC 247, which Jones won in a hotly contested decision. Reyes brought up Jones’ history of run-ins with the law, so the latest episode didn’t exactly appear to take him by surprise (via Twitter):

This is so unbelieveable it’s almost laughable! #sameoljon #somechamp #sad

All we can do is pray for that man. Those demons are real he said it himself

Blachowicz also took the opportunity to pile on Jones. The Polish fighter, who has won his past four bouts and is coming off a first-round knockout of Corey Anderson in February while Jones was seated cageside, took a stab at the champ based off the timing of his arrest (via Twitter):

Come on Jon, you have to find more clever way to hide from me than a jail ;).

Considering the recency of Jones’ arrest, the impact it could have on his fighting future remains unknown. The UFC issued a statement saying it was “gathering information” on the situation. Jones’ management has declined comment at this time.
