Consultation taking place to install speed bumps on Wishawhill Main Street

A public consultation is taking place to potentially install speed bumps on Wishawhill Main Street.

The plans for the traffic calming measures come after a string of complaints from residents over speeding drivers in the area.

Local Labour councillor Kenneth Duffy is pleased the council are taking action and called on residents to make their voices heard.

He said: “Time and again, constituents have expressed to me their concerns about the potential for serious accidents as a result of the traffic at the Main Street in Wishawhill.

“The safety of residents – and particularly our young people – is one of my top priorities as a councillor and I’m pleased that the council have recognised this.

“These speed bumps will make a huge difference to the lives of many and I hope they offer peace of mind to those who are worried about the safety of their loved ones.”

Any person wishing to object to the proposals must do so in writing to the Head of Legal and Democratic Solutions, North Lanarkshire Council, Civic Centre, Windmillhill Street, Motherwell ML1 1AB no later than Wednesday, September 4, and must contain the name and address of the objector, the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made.
