Consultation over new pedestrian and cycle bridge in Donabate at 'advanced stage'

Consultation between Fingal County Council and Irish Rail on the construction of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Dublin to Belfast Railway line at Corballis, Donabate is now at an advanced stage.

The project was originally proposed in September 2019.

Construction is now expected to begin in quarter two of next year.

According to Fingal County Council, the proposed bridge will "enhance connections between the development lands at Corballis, Donabate Village, Donabate train station and Newbridge Demesne."

They said in a statement on social media: "Fingal County Council is delighted to announce that consultation with Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail on the construction of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the Dublin to Belfast Railway line at Corballis, Donabate is now at an advanced stage.

"The new bridge will cross over the railway line, to create a safe and segregated pedestrian and cycle route over the railway line.

"It will enhance connections between the development lands at Corballis, Donabate Village, Donabate train station and Newbridge Demesne.

""Procurement for a main contractor for the works is expected to be complete in Q1 2022 and construction to starting in Q2 2022."
