Consultation launched for new pharmacy to open in Hamilton

A new pharmacy could soon be opening in a Lanarkshire town.

However people living in the Hillhouse area of Hamilton are being asked if they feel they have adequate access to NHS pharmacy services before the application is made.

The proposal is being launched by David Tanner of Wellhall Pharmacy, who would like to open the service in the area on Hillhouse Road.

It would offer full pharmaceutical services and be open Monday to Friday, 8am–6.30pm, Saturday, 9am–5pm and Sunday, 10am–2pm.

Before an application can be made, regulations require that NHS Lanarkshire and Mr Tanner carry out a joint consultation to seek the views of local people on whether they feel they already have adequate access to NHS pharmacy services in the area and gauge the level of support for the proposal.

NHS Lanarkshire primary care improvement and development manager Gillian Forsyth, said: “This is only a proposal, however, we want to gauge how people feel about it and the survey will help us capture this.

“For example, people will be able to record whether they feel they already have adequate access to NHS pharmacy services in the area or whether they feel there are gaps or deficiencies in service to the neighbourhood."

To take part in the joint consultation exercise, locals are being asked to complete an online questionnaire which is available here.

A map of the area is also available on this page.

The website provides information about the proposal and the application process.

Paper copies can also be provided by contacting the primary care department on 01698 752714. If you need this information in another language or format, please telephone 01698 752714.

You can also go directly to the online questionnaire at: https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/Proposed_Pharmacy_Hamilton

The joint consultation is a very important part of the application process and will run until April 21, 2023. And Hamilton residents are being encouraged to take the time to participate.

Comments received after April 21, 2023 cannot be accepted.
