Construction starts on Gartcosh industrial park extension

Gartcosh industrial park is being expanded with the construction of two new large-scale buildings.

The second phase sees units of 24,500 and 16,000 square feet being constructed at the site at Bothlin Road, with the development due to be completed later this year.

It follows the 2020 completion of phase one, where logistics company DX Network Services has become the first tenant.

Gartcosh industrial park is a joint venture between council organisation Fusion Assets and J Smart & Co; and its project teams say the development “cements North Lanarkshire’s position as a key strategic location” at a time when there is “strong” demand for high-specification industrial and logistics space in the central belt.

Fusion Assets managing director Murray Collins said: “This development reaffirms our commitment to regenerate and create long-term economic opportunities across North Lanarkshire – the park’s location is unparalleled and we’re confident this area will continue to grow in the coming years.”

Jane Oliver of J Smart & Co said the site “offers fantastic connectivity required by modern occupiers”; while Iain Davidson of development marketers Colliers added: “Given extremely low existing supply, speculative developments in strategically important locations such as Gartcosh will play an ever-increasing role”.
