Construction site, public service building among new ACT COVID-19 exposure sites

The ACT's list of COVID-19 exposure sites has expanded to include a work site and a public service office building.

The Coco Republic construction site in Civic and the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) were both listed as close-contact exposure sites overnight.

Other close-contact locations include a display site for the Metropol apartments in Reid, a joinery business, and a Hume warehouse.

A Girl Guides meeting at Gungaderra Homestead is also listed as a close-contact site.

The exposure location at Coco Republic is the first to be recorded at a construction site this outbreak, with multiple other close-contact sites also linked to the construction industry.

The exposure at Coco Republic occurred on Tuesday, August 10 from 9:30am to 5:30pm, Wednesday, August 11 from 1:30pm to 5:00pm and Thursday, August 12 from 8:00am to 12:30pm.

The AMSA head office exposure is the first in the ACT's current outbreak to be recorded in a public service building, with exposure on Wednesday, August 11 from 8:45am to 1:30pm and Thursday, August 12 from 10:30am to 12:00pm.

In a statement, ASMA said their offices had been closed to the public and they are currently working with staff to ensure they were tested for COVID-19 and quarantining.

However, AMSA said its Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, which performs critical search and rescue functions, was still operating.

Anyone who was at a close-contact location at these dates and times is advised to get tested for COVID-19 and immediately quarantine for 14 days. 

There are currently a total of 398 COVID-19 exposure locations identified across the territory.

The ACT's COVID-19 cluster grew to 137 cases as of 8:00pm on Sunday night.
