Construction on XSite Braehead's go-karting track to begin 'this summer'

Work is set to begin on a huge indoor go-karting at XSite Braehead "this summer".

It was announced in September last year that the high-speed electric karting attraction will create approximately 80 jobs, providing a boost for the local economy.

The work will see the former Snowfactor site, which initially shut in 2022 before closing permanently due to "financial and safety" reasons, transformed into the "world's largest indoor karting track and e-sports venue".

The attraction will also feature an e-sports lounge, a bar, and a variety of activities designed for all ages.

It is part of a £5.5million investment by organisation K1 Speed.

Spanning over 90,000 sq ft, the track will be equipped with the latest safety technology and advanced timing systems, so that users of all skill levels can enjoy the experience.

The lounge will also feature racing simulators with advanced gaming technology.

Natalie Don-Innes MSP confirmed on social media that work on the development is set to begin "this summer" with the hope being that the "attraction will open at the end of the year".
