Construction of new train station in growing Dublin suburb Pelletstown begins this year

Construction of Dublin's newest train station is set to get underway by the end of 2019.

The proposed train station in growing Dublin suburb Pelletstown will finally begin construction after funding was sanctioned.

Pelletstown was granted planning permission in October 2014 but remained in limbo for years due to financial difficulties.

The station is expected to cost €10 million and is situated near the Maynooth line between Ashtown and Broombridge.

It's something that has been in the pipeline for years, first being proposed two decades ago.

Irish Rail announced that it hoped to open the station fully before the end of 2021, according to The Irish Times.

The area has expanded in recent years following a large number of new housing developments.
