GWH will begin initial site works on Darby Plaza next month with Newcastle's latest A-grade commercial building expected to be complete by the end of 2021.
Darby Plaza, at 352 Hunter Street, will feature retail and hospitality offerings plus a 1000 square metre public plaza connecting the foreshore and Darby Street.
GWH's commercial sales leasing manager Jared Harris said a major anchor tenant has been secured and the building is now 35 per cent leased. The remaining available office space ranges from 100 square metre suites to 3600 square metres.
"COVID-19 has forced organisations to review the way their offices operate," Mr Harris said. "We believe that tenants will be drawn to Darby Plaza for the wellness and sustainability initiatives and the flexibility to design and build their own environment.
"Leasing enquiries had been steady and, now with the certainty of a specific delivery date, we are receiving very strong interest from potential tenants.
"Interested parties, including our anchor tenant, have been attracted to the building for a number of reasons. The smart building technology, the buildings' amenity, including state of the art end-of-trip facilities and rooftop entertaining area, large efficient floorplates and proximity to transport and services, all make it hugely attractive."
