JAKARTA -- Semi-major general contractor, Toda Corp., is planning to invest in an Indonesian construction company to enter the region, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned. The construction-related market is expected to rapidly grow once the outbreak of the coronavirus is over, and the company is looking to establish a foothold in the region.
In Indonesia, major construction projects, such as building a subway in the capital and a port, is under way with Japan's official development assistance.
Toda plans to dispatch a director and other staff to a local construction company.
Indonesia has been selected as one of the destinations of Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga's first overseas trips scheduled in the middle of this month, creating great expectations among the business community for stronger economic ties.
