- Aristocrat Constance Marten and her partner, convicted rapist Mark Gordon, have been sentenced to 14 and 18 years in prison respectively for the gross negligence manslaughter of their infant daughter.
- The baby, named Victoria, perished in a flimsy tent on the South Downs in bitter cold while her parents were on the run to prevent her from being taken into care.
- Judge Mark Lucraft KC, at the Old Bailey, stated that neither parent showed genuine remorse, instead focusing on themselves and blaming others for their child's death.
- Marten and Gordon were earlier convicted of child cruelty, perverting the course of justice, and concealing the birth of a child, having hidden Victoria's remains in a Lidl bag.
- Marten has already lodged an appeal against her conviction.
