Consistent rain in Mumbai leads to waterlogging, affects traffic

The consistent rain spell on Tuesday resulted in waterlogging and slow-moving traffic in several parts of the city. Additional traffic police personnel were deployed to guide motorists.

Earlier in the day, waterlogging was reported on the south-bound carriageway of Bandra-Worli sea link, Mahalaxmi junction, Gamadiya junction, Hindmata and Dattram Road in Byculla. Andheri subway and Milan subway in Santacruz were closed owing to waterlogging. As the rainwater drained out by noon, both subways were later thrown open for traffic.

Slow-moving traffic was reported under Mankhurd railway bridge (south-bound arm) and at Pratap Nagar in Jogeshwari. Bumper-to-bumper traffic near the family court at BKC led to backlog on the north-bound carriageway at Bandra. South-bound traffic near Dockyard station was diverted owing to a tree collapse.
